This form is intended to explain how your personal data will be processed in connection with the thesis being written by Célia Bonnet-Ligeon, a doctoral student in Information and Communication Sciences at Lumière Lyon 2 University (France) and affiliated with the Elico laboratory (EA 4147).
The purpose of this processing is to collect information on the user-generated content (UGC) creation practices of users of metaverse-type platforms.
The legal basis for this processing of personal data is the public interest mission. The data controller is Sciences Po Lyon, acting on behalf of the Elico laboratory.
We process your personal data through an anonymous questionnaire, the responses to which will help generate quantitative or qualitative data to support the research objectives. By completing the questionnaire, you consent to participating in the research.
You are free to choose whether or not to participate, and if you do participate, you may withdraw or stop participating in this project at any time. Withdrawing has no consequences, and your responses will not be saved.
Nature of the data
Only the data strictly necessary for conducting this research is collected and processed: creative practices, creative tools, whether or not money is earned through creative work, and future creative plans.
The data provided will be retained for as long as necessary to complete Célia Bonnet-Ligeon’s dissertation, for the defense, and, if applicable, for preparation for publication, and for ten years following the last publication for which the data was used.
The primary recipient of the data is Célia Bonnet-Ligeon, a doctoral student affiliated with the Elico laboratory (EA 4147).
Privacy
This survey does not require you to provide your personal information. At the end of the survey, you have the option to provide a Discord username so we can contact you. Providing your username is optional and may compromise your anonymity. By providing a way to contact you, you agree to be contacted for a one-on-one interview.
The legal basis for collecting additional information through a personal interview is the public interest mission; however, the respondent’s consent is sought for the subsequent processing of the data collected.
Special Protection for Minors
If you are a minor, please do not provide any contact information. Minors who wish to have a personal conversation or written exchange with the author of the questionnaire should email C.Bonnet-Ligeon@univ-lyon2.fr and provide written consent signed by at least one of their parents, guardians, or legal representatives.
Security
An identification code is assigned to each fully completed questionnaire.
The recipient of the responses creates, in a separate file, a mapping table linking any pseudonyms collected to the questionnaires’ identification codes. Once a pseudonym is added to the mapping table, it is removed from the responses provided by the respondent.
To ensure the confidentiality of your data and prevent its disclosure, the following measures have been implemented:
- Only Célia Bonnet-Ligeon and her thesis advisor are authorized to access the raw questionnaire responses and the cross-tabulation tables.
- The following security measure is in place: raw responses are stored in a computer folder protected by a password of at least twelve characters (a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters). The lookup table files are themselves encrypted using a password of similar complexity.
Data transfer and distribution
All collected data is stored in France. Raw data may be shared with the thesis advisor for the sole purpose of contributing to the development of the questionnaire author’s thesis, or to joint research and scientific publications involving the participants. By completing this questionnaire, you agree that your raw responses may be shared with the thesis advisor.
Once the responses have been stripped of contact information and any details that might reveal a respondent’s identity, they can be posted online at https://nakala.fr/, a website for sharing scientific data, developed and hosted by Huma-Num, a Very Large Research Infrastructure (TGIR*) of the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education, and Research, implemented by the CNRS, Aix-Marseille University, and Campus Condorcet, and headquartered in Paris.
By completing this questionnaire, you agree that your responses—once stripped of any contact information and any details that might reveal your identity—may be published on https://nakala.fr/. You agree that other researchers may reuse them.
The research findings derived from the responses may be presented by Célia Bonnet-Ligeon or her thesis advisor at professional and scientific conferences, in reports intended for government agencies, in professional and academic journals, and possibly in media aimed at the general public, provided that the research results do not allow the audience or reader to link a response to the identity of the respondant.
By completing this questionnaire, you agree that the research findings, which will be disseminated in accordance with the terms set forth in the preceding paragraph, may include your responses, provided that the data used does not reveal your identity.
